Feeding communities in dire need

  • Daily Community Feeding Scheme Programme

The inception of the Daily Community Feeding Scheme Program arose during the challenging times of the COVID-19 Lockdown. The widespread need for sustenance became evident as our communities faced hardships. Numerous appeals for food assistance reached us, revealing a stark reality – some families struggled to put a meal on the table, with some enduring nights on empty stomachs, resorting to water to stave off hunger.

In the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), it is said, “He is not a Muslim who goes to bed with his stomach full when his neighbour is hungry.” These words guided us to take action.

Thus, we initiated the Daily Feeding Scheme, a daily provision open to all community members, devoid of any discrimination based on race, religion, or creed. Each day at 12 pm, from Monday to Sunday, we serve meals to alleviate hunger among the most vulnerable in the Tembisa Township.

Our programme sustains approximately 300 to 320 individuals daily. Our lunch menu includes staple foods such as Pap with Chicken, samp with beans, rice with stew beef, along with soup kitchens providing bread and food hampers.

This vital effort is made possible through the generosity of the Almighty and the unwavering support of our community. We are grateful for the opportunity to extend a helping hand to those in need within the Tembisa township.

  • Madrasa Kids Feeding

Children attending our daily Madrasa are provided with lunch at the centre. It is our belief that a child cannot learn on an empty stomach. This feeding program is fundamental to their growth and learning. We prioritise the education of our children after school. Through our Madrasa programme, they learn about their faith, their Creator, and the purpose of their existence. This initiative not only provides them with knowledge but also keeps them away from negative influences on the streets.

  • Friday Juma Feeding Madrasa

Combining community feeding with those attending Juma prayers, we serve almost 550 people every Friday. This includes both the community feeding programme (320 people) and Muslim brothers and sisters attending Juma prayers (230 people).
